DESCRIPTION:WINA is delighted to invite you to our presentation with Bruce Gleeson of Jones Partners Insolvency & Restructuring about Ponzi Schemes and the fascinating case of Melissa Caddick.  \nBruce was appointed as one of the joint Receivers of Ms Caddick’s property and joint Liquidators of her company\,  Maliver Pty Ltd by the Federal Court on an interim basis on 15 December 2020. This was shortly after Ms Caddick’s disappearance in November 2020 after her Dover Heights property was raided by ASIC and the AFP. \nBruce will delve into the world of Ponzi schemes\, including Ms Caddick’s scheme\, other relevant recent cases and the evolution of the schemes. Bruce will also provide you with some key investigative aspects of the Caddick administrations including how to unravel such schemes\, what evidence is required\, how to prepare evidence for the Court and tips and tricks on how to manage such administrations. \nFY22 Members: Free for FY22 members of WINA. DESCRIPTION:WINA is delighted to invite you to our presentation with Brett Warren and Tenille Delkou of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission on Creditor Defeating Disposition.  \nBrett is a Senior Investigator at ASIC\, with over six years’ experience as a criminal investigator and prior to that\, in excess of 13 years’ experience as an insolvency accountant. Brett was awarded the WIRV male champion of change award in 2020. \nTenille has recently joined ASIC as an investigator in its Small Business Engagement and Compliance team having previously worked as an insolvency accountant in practice. \nIn February 2020\, legislation received royal assent that introduced a new form of voidable transaction known as a Creditor Defeating Disposition (‘CDD’).  This presentation will cover: \n\nASIC’s work in and around CDDs;\nThe legislation that applies to the new CDD transaction;\nASIC’s process for handling a liquidator’s request for it to make an order for money or property against a person who has benefited form a CDD; and\,\nCriminal offences resulting from a company making a CDD.\n\nFY22 Members: Free for FY22 members of WINA.
